or, to be more precise, the directory name / title of this place.

It all started back in 2001 or so when I was still actually updating 00FF00. When april fools would come around I would turn it into FF00FF and throw the theme of "planetyaoi" up with tame yaoi images with amusing caption bubbles quoting people I knew at the time, that would probably find that sort of thing funny.

Later, I got darky (who runs di.com) to make me a directory, called /yaoi, so that I could archive all of the april fool's jokes I had used, and several I hadn't.

After that got old, boring, stupid, and horrible, I stopped bothering and just used this directory for anything non game related (that stuff goes into 00FF00).

yaoi Z? is courtesy of john hoffman. When we decided to try Mortal Kombat: Devastation on the PS2 online system, we were trying to think of an amusing name and after trying a few amusing references that were mind bogglingly taken, he was like "Just try YaoiZ, nobody playing mortal kombat would have taken that, it should be easy... yao-easy."

so let it be written, so let it be done.

Let me assure you, there will never, ever, ever, be any yaoi in /yaoi/

Except possibly on april first, if I can be bothered to remember.
